Portrait of Martti Ahtisaari of Finland who was appointed Under-Secretary-General for Administration and Management, effective 1 January 1987. Prior to his appointment Mr. Ahtisaari was serving as Under Secretary of State in the Foreign Ministry of Finland and concurrently as the special Representative of the Secretary-General for Namibia.
