Nepal Millennium Development Goals PROGRESS REPORT 2005
Abstract:
This report has been prepared by His Majesty's Government of Nepal and the United Nations, on behalf of all development partners and citizens of Nepal. The report was made possible by valuable advice, comments and insights provided by a number of development partners who participated in a series of consultations.The draft chapters were prepared with contributions by Binayak Bhadra, Mana Prasad Wagley, Badri Raj Pande, Suman Sharma, Indira Shrestha, and Kamalesh Adhikari. The Central Bureau of Statistics provided valuable support particularly in data analyses and maps. At the Millennium Summit of September 2000, the Member States of the United Nations adopted the Millennium Declaration, which aims to bring peace, security, and development to all people. The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), drawn from the Millennium Declaration, are a groundbreaking international development agenda for the 21st century to which all nations are committed. The MDGs outline major development priorities to be achieved by 2015.
