UNESCO Condemns Placement of Explosives at Kathmandu Schools.
Abstract:
UNESCO strongly condemns the planting of multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) and suspicious objects near school buildings around the Kathmandu Valley, out of which three exploded in the early morning of 20 September 2016. n a post-conflict society like Nepal’s, we must do everything in our power to move away from violent forms of protest, and find peaceful ways of expression and negotiation. The provision of safe learning spaces is an indispensable part of achieving education. Putting the safety of children and teachers at risk, negatively affects access to and quality education, while throwing back any efforts of transforming a society through schooling in the blink of an eye. #IED #SOCIETY #POWER #CITIZENS #LEARNING #SCHOOLING
