Nepal IDP Research Initiative Findings: An initiative of concerned agencies in Nepal
Abstract:
Conflict-based displacement has been reported in Nepal’s media since the beginning of the conflict in 1996. However reports and anecdotal evidence suggest that the phenomenon has increased significantly over the last 2 years in response to an increasing intensity of conflict. This trend has been observed by many development organisations in Nepal, a number of whom, met to discuss the issue in October 20021 That meeting identified the need for a better understanding of the problem as a prerequisite for informed intervention. A number of organisations represented at that meeting agreed to help with the task of rapidly researching the issue. This report describes the aims, methods and findings and of this research, together with some recommendations for action.
