Nepal Risk Reduction Consortium Terms of Reference of the Flagship 5 Advisory Committee
Abstract:
The Nepal Risk Reduction Consortium (NRRC) was officially launched in 2011. It is a unique arrangement that unites the Government of Nepal, the international financial institutions development partners and donors, the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the United Nations, and the Civil Society representative as members of the Steering Committee along with some observers. The NRRC supports the Government of Nepal in realizing the National Strategy for Disaster Risk Management (NSDRM). Based on Government priorities and discussions with multi stakeholder groups, the NRRC and Government identified five flagship areas of immediate intervention for disaster risk management in Nepal, each of which is coordinated by one of the partner organizations together with appropriate line Ministries.Strategic direction and oversight is provided to the NRRC by the Steering Committee, chaired by the Secretary of Home Affairs (MoHA) and comprising a number of ministries and the consortium partners. The NRRC Secretariat supports the work of the Steering Committee and is composed of the Joint‐Secretary and Under‐Secretary of MoHA and an NRRC Coordinator. #RiskReduction #NRRC
