UNDP Support to the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 8: Promoting Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth
Abstract:
Inequalities in income and other non-income outcomes, including health conditions, educational attainment and employment opportunities, are important determinants of economic growth and well-being. The most disadvantaged and vulnerable often lead shorter lives and find it difficult to break free from a vicious cycle of educational underachievement, low skills and poor employment prospects. In the long term, inequality of income and opportunity undermines economic growth prospects. Addressing the multidimensional nature of inequality and its impacts on different segments of the population is essential for sustainable economic growth. Hence, fostering inclusive growth is an important part of a pro-growth agenda. #SDGs #SDGs2016 #UNSDGs #SustainableDevelopment
