UN Staff Influenza Pandemic: Update # 14 (6th July, 2009)
Abstract:
Highlights: 1. Surveillance has been intensified. Tracing of the passengers and close contact of the confirmed cases was carried out and no suspected case was found except the index’s sibling and cousin. 2. Public and private hospitals, including the hospitals of security forces, have been instructed to establish an isolation room and trainings were conducted on case management and infection control. 3. Nepal Public Health Laboratory is carrying out laboratory investigation of suspected cases of Influenza A/H1 2009. 4. The community mitigation and health promotion materials have been disseminated to the community. The meeting of the National Committee on Communication was held on 29th June 2009 for further upgrading the communication activities. 5. The sample, which is positive for Pandemic Influenza A/H1 2009, has been sent to the WHO reference laboratory (University of Hong Kong) for further confirmation and analysis. 6.
