World Drug Report (2015)
Abstract:
UNODC is pleased to present the findings of the World Drug Report 2015, based on the best available data and our long-standing research expertise in the many complex facets of drugs and crime. The World Drug Report presents a comprehensive annual overview of the latest developments in the world’s illicit drug markets by focusing on the production of, trafficking in and consumption of the main illicit drug types and their related health consequences. Chapter 1 of the World Drug Report 2015 provides a global overview of the supply of and demand for opiates, cocaine, cannabis, amphetamine-type stimulants (ATS) and new psychoactive substances (NPS), as well as their impact on health, and reviews the scientific evidence on approaches to drug use prevention and addresses general principles for effective responses to treatment for drug use. Chapter 2 focuses on how alternative development, within the broader context of the development agenda, aims to break the vicious cycle of illicit crop cultivation by providing farmers with alternative livelihoods. According to the most recent data available, there has been little change in the overall global situation regarding the production, use and health consequences of illicit drugs. #DRUGS #HEALTH #PRODUCTION #PUBLICHEALTH
