High-Level Meeting To Discuss Long-Term Vision For Development Of Lumbini (8th July)
Abstract:
Measures to foster Lumbini’s development will be discussed by high level representatives of the Government of Nepal, members of the diplomatic corps in Nepal, and representatives of intergovernmental organizations and Buddhist Institutions on 11 July 2011 in Lumbini, Nepal. The round table discussion will provide a framework for advancing the vision of Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, a UNESCO World Heritage Property since 1997. The event will also provide an opportunity to review perspectives on international cooperation for the development of Lumbini, with a view to possibly reviving the International Committee for the Development of Lumbini and garnering international support to realize the vision for Lumbini.The event is being organized by the Ministry of Federal Affairs, Constituent Assembly, Parliamentary Affairs and Culture, and the UNESCO Office in Kathmandu.
