Radiography Training in Nepal - Assignment Report (WHO Project: NEP HMD 001)
Abstract:
Reference: Miss Goodchild, P. (1978). Radiography Training in Nepal - Assignment Report (WHO Project: NEP HMD 001), WHO. URL-http://apps.who.int/iris/ All the certificate courses at the Institute of Medicine have been changed slightly so that the first two semesters are devoted entirely to the teaching of basic science subjects, Nepali and English. The major subjects for each course will be taught during the last three semesters, giving approximately 18 months' training for each speciality. The high dropout rate of radiography students during training continues; since 1974, 60 students have been enrolled, only 4 have graduated, 25 are still in training, and 31 left during their course of training. The reason so many students leave is reputed to be the poor career prospects for radiographers, and the initial fear of radiation.
