OHCHR-Nepal welcomes Supreme Court decision on Sexual Minorities
Abstract:
OHCHR-Nepal welcomes the Supreme Court decision that the State must ensure that members of sexual minorities are able to enjoy their human rights without discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or identity, as can other individuals, and should be able to live with full respect while enjoying that protection. The decision directed the Government of Nepal to enact new laws or amend current legislation in order to end all discrimination against members of sexual minorities and create an environment conducive for the enjoyment by sexual minorities of all rights as defined by international human rights law. One of the foundations of international human rights law is that no one should be discriminated against for any reason, including on the basis of their sex.
