UNDAF Newsletter- Nepal
Abstract:
The next UNDAF for Nepal, covering the programmatic period 2013-17, was signed in a small but jubilant ceremony on September 6 by the Honorable Vice Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, Deependra Bahadur Kshetry, and UN Country Team members. UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Robert Piper, took the opportunity to comment that the UNDAF “addresses the right issues with a clear sense of purpose, ambition and urgency, setting the stage for an exciting period of renewed collaboration between the UN Country Team and the Government of Nepal”. The UNCT’s focus must now turn to setting up the mechanisms to implement planned activities, and crucially, to raising the full amount of funds these will require in the coming years. At the UNDAF Steering Committee meeting on September 5 th, Under Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development, Mr. Ramesh Kumar Adhikari, emphasized that ad hoc project-wise intervention modalities should be replaced with programmers that focus on long term sustainability and building capacity. #RobertPiper #RC #Speech #UNDAF
