Millennium Development Goals - Needs Asessment For Nepal
Abstract:
Since Nepal's endorsement of the Millennium Declaration in 2000, the government has committed itself to making the necessary efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals MDGs by 2015. As the medium term strategy and implementation plan to achieve the MDGs, the country's Tenth Plan/Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) has incorporated the in its strategic framework,including the Nepal Health Sector Programmer Implementation Plan, Nutrition Plan of Action and National Plan of Action on the EFA. The already established linkage must now be further strengthened within an integrated framework, aligning the with the poverty reduction strategy. This publication is a milestone in Nepal's planning history As the country prepares to reduce poverty by half before 2015, thigh Needs Assessments in practical terms, what it will take to do so. We are, therefore, pleased to present this individuals, organizations and institutions willing to help Nepal achieve the Millennium Development Goals will find useful.This assessment is timely.As Nepal seeks Shortness-term and long-term solutions to the conflict, this assessment places a heavy emphasis on addressing the root cause of the conflict inequality. Millennium Development Goals - Needs Asessment For Nepal
Abstract:
Since Nepal's endorsement of the Millennium Declaration in 2000, the government has committed itself to making the necessary efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals MDGs by 2015. As the medium term strategy and implementation plan to achieve the MDGs, the country's Tenth Plan/Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) has incorporated the in its strategic framework,including the Nepal Health Sector Programmer Implementation Plan, Nutrition Plan of Action and National Plan of Action on the EFA. The already established linkage must now be further strengthened within an integrated framework, aligning the with the poverty reduction strategy. This publication is a milestone in Nepal's planning history As the country prepares to reduce poverty by half before 2015, thigh Needs Assessments in practical terms, what it will take to do so. We are, therefore, pleased to present this individuals, organizations and institutions willing to help Nepal achieve the Millennium Development Goals will find useful.This assessment is timely.As Nepal seeks Shortness-term and long-term solutions to the conflict, this assessment places a heavy emphasis on addressing the root cause of the conflict inequality. In order to ensure sustainable peace and prosperity in Nepal it is more crucial than ever before for the development programmes to focus on helping women Dalis and certain Janajati groups to gain equal opportunities in education,health services and decision-making. The MDG Needs Assessment identifies muchneeded interventions, estimates the total resources required and calls increased resource mobilization,as well as the foreword baling of foreign assistance. The findings of this exercise are expected to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of internal resources and also help in advocating for increased donor assistance aligned to realize the MDGs. It is clear that the MDGs will be met only through the substantial up-scaling of interventions,which will also require enhanced capacity building to deliver services through strengthened institutions.
