PPPUE Annual Progress Report 2002 - Programme Component - 04
Abstract:
The programme has adhered to the National Execution (NEX) modality to maximize national ownership of the programme support process. A centralized structure has been established for programme implementation, which consists of a central programme management unit (PPPUE Desk) in Kathmandu Valley. MLD has appointed Mr. Surya Saran Regmi, joint secretary of MLD as National Programme Director (NPD) of PPPUE, Nepal. Mr. Regmi has assumed the task of management of the programme and has thus been involved in the pre-implementation phase of the programme as chairperson. He is by default a member of the recruitment and procurement committees of the programme. The recruitment committee has recruited a National Programme Manager. He assumed office on March 25, 2002. The committee also recruited an Administrative & Finance Associate, an Office Secretary and a driver as support staff. The PPPUE desk has facilitated the recruitment of PPPUE specialists for MuAN and FNCCI. After the recruitment both MuAN and FNCCI have deputed their respective PPPUE specialist to work at the PPPUE Desk. The PPPUE desk is headed by the NPM and consists of a team of experts including short-term national and international consultants in their respective fields (like public private partnership, community development and poverty alleviation, law, business development and financial analyst, organizational development, and information technology & communication). This team of experts provides technical backstopping to PPP initiatives of stakeholders. #PPPUE
