Narrative Report of the UNYAP 2008-2010
Abstract:
United Nations Youth Advisory Panel (UNYAP) is an initiative designed to empower and build the capacity of the Nepalese youth to take the lead as agents for social change, economic and industrial innovation. They represent an entire generation of ambitions, ideas and plans and form the foundation of the UN‟s present agenda of empowering the youth to participate fully in their respective societies and the decision-making processes. The UNYAP is a part of the UN Country Team (UNCT)'s commitment to the young people’s empowerment and rights in accordance with basic human rights principles and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Therefore, the purpose of the UNYAP is to establish open dialogue between the UNCT and young people to advise the UNCT on the strategic opportunities and necessary actions for addressing adolescent and youth issues. The objective of this report is to document and inform concerned UN agencies about the progress of and challenges faced by the UNYAP in the course of their work since 2008 till 2010. The expected outputs of the panel as stated in the original ToR on July 2008 were: - Identifying key issues in youth development for CA members to include in the new constitution. - Increased youth participation in UNCT programming process. - Development of joint advocacy initiatives, and guidelines to support these initiatives. - Other outputs that will be determined by the UNCT through the deliberations of the panel. #UNYAP
