Nepal is well-watered not only by the many rivers that flow from the slopes of the snow-capped Himalayas but by the rains brought by the monsoon winds. The Government of Nepal has enlisted the aid of United Nations technical assistance experts to investigate and plan a system of irrigation through the country that will eventually irrigate a million acres of land and supply hydro-electric power. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) experts will assist in training irrigation personnel.

Nepalese workers constructing a dam under the supervision of Mr. T.W. Subramanian (India), an FAO surveyor. Two dams in the area will divert the river Bagmati to irrigate 2000 acres of land.
