Nepal has three decades of experience in micro-finance. Micro-finance programs contribute to poverty alleviation, and have been implemented throughout the country. The Government of Nepal recognizes micro-finance as a particularly effective development tool for raising living standard of poor
people because the services provided by the micro-finance institutions in Nepal target poor and very poor clients. Moreover these services can make a significant contribution to the improvement of the socio-economic situation of the poor by providing them access to credit to build and develop their
livelihoods.
