Obstetric Fistula in Nepal -Youtube

Abstraction: UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, is working with the Government of Nepal to end and prevent obstetric fistula, support surgeries and provide capacity building to health institutions and service providers. One of the most serious injuries of childbearing, obstetric fistula is a hole in the birth canal, caused by prolonged, obstructed labor due to lack of timely and adequate medical care, early or closely spaced pregnancies. Obstetric fistula was only officially recognized in Nepal after the launch of UNFPA's Campaign to End Fistula in 2010.

2.38 sec :The Need Assessment Report 2011 by UNFPA,MOHP and WOREC estimate an addition of 200 to 400 new cases yearly.

3.59 sec :UNFPA and the Government have developed BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences,Dharan as a designated training sites for Obstetric Fistula.

4.24 sec :With UNFPA supporting their free surgeries,they are now living a hassle-free life.
