The ability of SGBV survivors to access justice is a challenge, rendered particularly difficult in conflict and post conflict contexts. Fear of retributions, sense of helplessness, feelings of shame, prevention of reporting by the family and society, and lack of trust in the justice mechanism are some of the barriers that prevent or hinder survivors access to justice. Nepal possesses diverse formal and informal justice mechanisms, supported by national and international laws and instruments, which enables victims of different forms of disputes to access justice.
