The project was implemented to strengthen the capacity for emergency preparedness through a Community Based
Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) approach and to increase the resilience of livelihoods through the prevention
of landslide disasters and establishment of safer agricultural livelihood strategies. The area of the project is about 50
Sq.km of Darkhu Khola sub-watershed areas within Lachyang, Narjamandap and Kharanitar VDCs of Nuwakot district.
• The project has achieved its aim to reduce the loss of life and livelihoods due to such hazards.
• The Community-based Watershed Management approach has been adopted during project interventions, which
has encompassed development of user-friendly Agriculture Hazard and Vulnerability Mapping (AHVM) Tool Kit.
• Capacity building of communities for the preparation of plans, implementation of livelihood activities, and
landslide treatment and mitigation measures as key project activities have been implemented.
