UNICEF / OHCHR Position Paper: Protection Of Children With Regards To Political Activities
PDF File Size: 30 KB | Download
With the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, Nepal has entered a phase of
political campaigning and public gatherings that will lead to new elections. This paper highlights pertinent issues related to the protection of children with regards to political activities. It also reiterates general principles relating to child protection and children’s involvement in political activities, as stated in the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which has been ratified by Nepal. In addition, UNICEF and OHCHR propose various recommendations to prevent the misuse and manipulation of children during the country’s upcoming and future political activities.
