How does OHCHR-Nepal work?

OHCHR gets its information from many sources, including victims of violations, their families, the media, the state authorities and civil society. With this information, OHCHR can investigate claims and, if necessary, report them to the Government of Nepal and to other United Nations offices. OHCHR-Nepal can visit any part of the country and enter all prisons, detention centres and places of interrogation without prior notice.
Authorities are obliged to give OHCHR any documents it requests. OHCHR provides training on human rights and recommendations to the state on human rights policies and laws.
