A sub-regional network meeting on Intangible Cultural Heritage in South Asia will be held on 16-17 August 2017 at the Hotel Himalaya in Lalitpur, Nepal. The
meeting aims to exchange experiences concerning the implementation of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage at national
level.
The meeting is being organized jointly by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and
Civil Aviation, UNESCO Office in Kathmandu and the International Information
and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP).
Seven South Asian countries - Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal,
Pakistan and Sri Lanka - which share diverse living culture will participate. They all have similar conditions due to limited resources and trained workforce in the field of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage (ICH).
