The National Emergency Operations Centre has reported that 66 people are known to have died, 35 people remain missing and 35 have been injured.The full extent of the disaster is not yet known. Many affected areas remain inaccessible dueto damaged roads and bridges, while Biratnagar airport in the east is completely inundated.he impact of the current floods could be exacerbated by pre-existing social and economic disparities. Some of the affected districts are among the lowest scoring on the Human Development Index (HDI) in the country.
