OHCHR Press Release High Commissioner for Human Rights Set to Monitor Situation in Nepal

To set up a monitoring operation in Nepal in a move to help establish accountability for human rights abuses and prevent further violations. Human rights monitoring under United Nations auspices would be an important step in establishing accountability for human rights abuses and help prevent serious human rights violations resulting from the nine­year old armed conflict. The climate of violence and the internal armed conflict in the country.Government on matters related to the promotion and protection of human rights in Nepal and will provide advisory services and human rights support to representatives of civil society, human rights non­governmental organizations and individuals.
