MEDEP‟s existence has made a significant contribution in the livelihood and poverty alleviation efforts in the country. MEDEP has proven to be a consistent advocator in the development of micro enterprises in Nepal. The program has also integrated an exemplary modality which caters to ultra poor (people from low economic strata) to transform their socio economic status through enterprising activities and establishment of micro enterprises.
In a country like Nepal – where wage employment is still scarce and country facing staggering economic growth – MEDEP programs that focus on creating self employment in rural areas are a timely boon to the poorest. MEDEP has added another feather in the cap by continuing to maintain a close working partnership with central /local governmental bodies to institutionalize project activities into mainstream developmental efforts as a result of which “Micro Development Policy 2064” has been approved by the government.
