Security Council Press Statement on Nepal (27 March 2008)

The following Security Council press statement on Nepal was read out today by Council President Vitaly Churkin ( Russian Federation): The members of the Security Council welcomed the progress towards Constituent Assembly elections in Nepal. Members of the Security Council looked forward to elections being held in a free and fair manner on 10 April and urged all Nepalese parties to uphold public security and create an atmosphere that is conducive to a successful forthcoming election. The members of the Security Council reiterated their full support for the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN).
