This annual report shows the collective achievements of the UNCT, together with the
Government of Nepal (GoN) in 2015, on the jointly established UNDAF outcomes. In 2015, the UNDAF implementation was marked by significant contextual challenges. On April 25 and May 12 two back-to-back major earthquakes struck Nepal, causing severe destruction in 31 districts with 14 most affected out of the 75 districts in the country. The constitution drafting process, which had lasted eight years, spanning two Constituent Assemblies, was concluded in 2015 and the Constitution of Nepal was promulgated on 20 September 2015. The UN contributed to a number of significant achievements in 2015 under the UNDAF, with a total spending across the 10 UNDAF Outcomes of USD 102 million. This included adoption of key policies and strategies such as the Agriculture Development Strategy (ADS), the National Employment Policy and National Occupational Safety and Health Policy (which specifically target women, youth and marginalized groups including home-based workers), and a five-year gender responsive National
Action Plan on Foreign Employment.
