The past two years have seen remarkable changes in the lives of Verified Minors and Late Recruits (VMLRs), following their discharge from the Maoist cantonments in 2010. Many of the VMLRS have started to make a positive impact on the community through skills training, education, employment and enterprise schemes. They return to their communicates with renewed energy and enthusiasm with the hope of reintegrate into civilian life. For them to do so, however, requires the community to play a significant role in creating a conducive environment for the return of ex-combatants. The way forward is in the hands of the VMLRs and their communities which will ultimately play a part in the peace process of Nepal.
