My SDGs, my responsibility
|
In 2000, representatives from the (then) 189 Member States met to adopt goals for the world called Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The eight MDGs were to be achieved by the year 2015.
Many of the targets of the MDGs were met by 2015, but the world still needed to keep working to fully achieve the Goals as well as tackle new issues and problems. So, in September 2015, UN Member States reached an agreement on a new set of 17 goals called the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the
next 15 years – from 2016 to 2030
