The ILO provides advice, training and capacity building to its constituents to shape national economic, labour and social policies that are in line with international standards The ILO facilitated the social dialogue processes for the ratification of and then preparation of a National Action Plan on the implementation of Convention 169.The ILO mandate on gender equality is to promote equality between all women and men in the world of work and is enshrined in its Constitution and reflected in relevant international labour standards and ILO programmes at the country
levels; the ILO conducted its first gender audit in 2001 in Nepal.
By participating in the ILO’s Employment Opportunities for Women Project during the 2000,5,635 women benefit-ted from the formation of 62 savings and credit groups and increased their access to training entrepreneurship development and variety of other skills.
