Nepal Report on the Observance of Standards and Codes Accounting & Auditing
|
The report uses International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Standards on Auditing (ISA) as benchmarks and draws on international experience and good practice approaches in the field of accounting and auditing to assess the quality of financial reporting and make policy recommendations.
The ROSC aims to support the Government of Nepal in preparing a country action plan in line with further enhancing the quality of corporate financial reporting as a means to facilitate improvement of the business climate and foster business development. Financial transparency and disclosures enhance a country’s ability to attract foreign investment. Empirical evidence and several studies made during the last decade show that there is an inverse relationship between financial transparency and disclosure and market risk; the lower the quality of financial transparency and disclosure, the higher the market risk and the higher the cost of capital.
