Position Paper on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls in Nepal
PDF File Size: 2.56 MB | Download
As a technical advisory and advocacy group on gender equality, the UNCT Gender Theme Group in Nepal has as its key objective to promote and support coordinated and collective UNCT action to drive the gender-responsive implementation and monitoring of the Nepal UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) 2013-17, including through the implementation of the UNCT Gender Scorecard recommendations In line with this role and with the conclusions made at the 57th session of the Commission on the Status of Women on efforts needed to eliminate violence against women and girls, in April 2015 the UNCT GTG conducted a mapping of joint UN efforts to ending violence against women and girls in Nepal from 2014 to 2016.

The purpose of the paper is to serve as an advocacy and guidance tool for strengthening the effectiveness of the current Nepal UNDAF 2013-17 and future UNDAF cycles in its joint programming related to ending violence against women and girls. It also serves as reference note for information sharing for use by the UN Resident Coordinator and the UNCT in Nepal when presenting on the progress of the UN in Nepal in implementing commitments to ending violence against women and girls through coordinated efforts and joint programming.
