Electoral Education and Information Centre is the agency of its kind in the SAARC Region to provide civic and electoral education. This Centre was set up in 2011 A.D. and came into operation following its opening by Rt. Hon. President, Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on 24 May, 2012. This Centre was constructed with the support from Australian Aid (AUS Aid) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Nepal. The Centre has envisioned to provide information to the public regarding electoral education, electoral procedures, constitution, democracy, political parties and political processes through interactive participation using multidimensional approach. The Centre has the objective of developing the voters’ awareness and participation towards electoral system and processes by making the voters’ education, voters oriented, accountable and impartial. Use of hi-tech electronic apparatus and the necessary resources appropriate for the same and the cooperation from the researchers, students, public and electoral stakeholders will provide additional and concrete support to make the elections more free, fair and transparent.
