Nepal : Floods in Banke and Bardiya Districts - 28 August 2006

Reportedly, over 7000 people in Bardiya and 6000 in Banke districts are directly affected by the heavy flooding caused by torrential rain. Thousands of houses partially submerged. In Bardiya, over a dozen people are feared dead while hundreds of houses have been submerged due to floods. 5 deaths have been reported in Banke. Local Authority is seeking for external support for humanitarian assistance. Pepole evacuated from Badalpur, Tulsipur and Ratanpur to temporary evacuation centres in DHQ. Hundreds of houses partially submerged, 350 people evacuated.
