The Protection Cluster contingency plan has been prepared by and for the Protection Cluster (PC) in Nepal to ensure that the PC is prepared and can respond with maximum efficacy to protection needs arising from a major earthquake in Kathmandu and the localized flood in the Terai (two scenarios agreed by the humanitarian country team in Nepal). The contingency plan draws on lessons learnt from Nepal and elsewhere while responding to the protection needs of the population in times of crisis and is based on and follows the planning process set forth by the Inter Agency Contingency Planning Guidelines. It is an outcome of the collaborative efforts of all cluster members right from the beginning of the planning process to producing the final draft.
