According to the Human Development Report (HDR-UNDP, 2013), the countries with a composite index measuring average achievement are categorized among four groups: very
high human development, high human development, medium human development and low human development. Nepal, with an HDI of 0.463, is categorized among low human development countries and is ranked at 157 among 187 countries. The mean years of schooling are merely 3.2 years against 8.9 years of expected schooling years.
