Nepal, as the member state of the United Nations, has conviction that every country should be guided by the fundamental principles like basic human rights, the individual’s dignity and respect and equal rights of women and men enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations. Nepal strongly supports all the international instruments and legal mechanisms concerning the protection and promotion of the rights of women and girls. In reality, the topic of protecting and promoting the rights of women and girls boosts the country’s peace, security and development.The United Nations Security Council Resolutions (UNSCRs) 1325 and 1820 on women, peace and security has a special importance in the context of Nepal as it is gearing towards establishing peace following a decade-long armed conflict.
