The present report is a summary of the Africa Regional Report on Sustainable Development Goals, prepared under the framework of the Africa Rio+20 follow-up, and the post-2015 development agenda consultative processes. It is based on information gathered from consultative processes that were carried out in the five subregions of Africa, and among a number of institutions supporting development in the region, supported by an extensive literature review. The present report was presented at the Africa Regional Consultative Meeting on Sustainable Development Goals, which was held from 31 October to 5 November 2013, and was finalized based on the comments and recommendations of the meeting. The proposed 12 sustainable development goals were also endorsed at the meeting, which was attended by ministers and high-level officials from African countries, regional and sub- regional organizations, a wide range of major groups and development partners. The outcome document of the Africa Regional Consultative Meeting on the Sustainable Development Goals was adopted as an input to the work of the Africa High-level Committee on the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
