Four major noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) cardiovascular diseases (including heart disease and stroke), diabetes, cancer and chronic respiratory diseases (including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma) are the leading cause of illness and death worldwide including the South-East Asia Region (SEAR). In addition to the health burden, NCDs have serious social and economic consequences particularly for poor disadvantaged populations.Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are defined as diseases of long duration, and are generally slow in progression.
