Parents Mind Set of Education Investment for Daughters
PDF File Size: 75 KB | Download
The Nepal Ministry of Education’s data reveal that 95% of children are enrolled in primary schools with gender parity! It is therefore likely that Nepal is going to achieve the Millennium Development Goal on promoting gender equality (Ministry of Education’s Flash I Report (hereafter MoE Flash I, 2011/12). This is a very positive development but also an opportunity to inquire whether sons are given preference in terms of enrolment in private schools, which may be considered by parents to be of higher quality, while daughters remain in community schools.
