Timor-Leste: Strong Malaria Control Programme Cuts Cases

Highlights:
1.Dramatic reduction in reported malaria cases in Timor-Leste from 220 cases per 1000 people in 2006 to less than 1 case per 1000 in 2013.
2. Entomological surveys enabled local authorities assess best malaria prevention approaches.
3. Programme has moved from diagnosis and treatment of malaria to focus on prevention and control.
