Nepal’s national economy and people’s livelihood largely depend on natural resources and ecosystem services. But these resources and services are increasingly affected by climate change and its greater variability and extreme events. The National Adaptation Programme of Action (NAPA) and other strategies and action plans of Nepal have recognized the need for immediate actions to minimize climate risks to society, economy and ecosystems. The Ecosystem based Adaptation (EbA) in Mountain Ecosystems in Nepal is one of such attempts to address the problem. Similar programmes are also implemented in Peru and Uganda.
