Donor Update Influenza Pandemic: Update: #4 (25th May, 2009)

Highlights:
1. Medical teams at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) are carrying out their function smoothly and two suspected cases wree reported.
2. Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) and Avian Influenza Control Project (AICP) are providing further requirement to the referral hospitals in order to make the hospital better equipped. All the required logistic as per SOPs are in place at the airport.
3. Surveillance activities continue in the Early Warning and Response System (EWARS) sites. Control Room at EDCD is working round the clock. EDCD and AICP are coordinating all the ongoing activities. Master Training of Trainer MToT on Influenza orientation, surveillance, outbreak investigation, risk communication, case management and infection prevention and control have been carried out in Chitwan for the six districts of the Central Development Region.
