United Nations Under-Secretary- General and Executive Director of UN Women, Phumzile Mlambo- Ngcuka, visited the Philippines to promote gender equality and women’s rights within a regional context. During her visit, the Executive Director announced ADB and UN Women will work together on a collaborative study to track the progress of Asia and the Pacific in realizing gender equality. Her mission included meetings with members of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW). During her visit to Quezon City, the Executive Director welcomed the city to UN Women’s Safe Cities Global Initiative. She also had the opportunity to meet members of the civil society and reiterate UN Women’s disposition and willingness to continue working together for gender equality.
