CSUWN teamed together with DNPWC & other conservation partners to mark the World Wetland Day (WWD) on Feb 02, 2009. On this occasion, a billboard depicting the theme Upstream-Downstream: Wetlands connect us all was inaugurated by Mr. Surya Prasad Joshi,Officiating Secretary, MFSC. The billboard was jointly supported by conservation partners and placed at the entrance of forestry complex. However, these sites have continued to bear the brunt of externalities that the civilized world has produced in the name of development ranging from encroachment, dredging, reclamation, unplanned growth, and dumping and disposal of biological and chemical waste. The integrity of wetlands and water bodies are being increasingly degraded and lost. Water is going to become a scarce commodity in the days to come and we must make every effort to educate and sensitize about the importance of water and wetlands to a wide range of actors whose actions and behaviors impact these important sites.
