On 10 Jun, continuous rain triggered landslides in several Village District Committes in Taplejung District. The Nepal Police confirmed 38 deaths, 18 injured and 23 missing. Local media sources report that the death toll may be as high as 53 people. Flash floods and obstructed sections of the Mechi highway has hampered rescue operations. As of 8 Jun, the Ministry of Home Affairs (National Emergency Operations Center) confirmed 8,773 deaths as a result of the 25 Apr and 12 May earthquakes. Over 505,000 houses were destroyed and almost 279,000 damaged.
