The present report summarizes the results of the “expert consultation” on “Strengthening the Food Security Phase Classification Method in Nepal”, held on the 2nd of June 2008 at the Dhokaima Café, Patan Dhoka – Lalitpur. The consultation was convened by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Nepal with the main objective of receiving valuable inputs from relevant stakeholders based in Kathmandu for the improvement of the methodology currently used by WFP Nepal for food security (FS) monitoring and classification of food insecure areas in the Country. The expert consultation incorporated a mixture of keynote presentations, working groups and plenary discussions (see the agenda in annex 1). The 49 consultation participants included experts from government organizations, UN and bilateral agencies, I/NGOs (see list of participants in annex 2).
