Building on the successes of IFAD’s community development, agricultural production and environmental protection projects in Nepal, the Adaptation for Smallholders in Hilly Areas Project (ASHA) aims to strengthen the adaptive capacity of communities and institutions to better contend with climate change risks in six to ten vulnerable districts over the next six years. ASHA is being supported by US$15 million from IFAD's Adaptation for Smallholder Agriculture Programme (ASAP) fund. The ASAP is a global grant fund currently engaged in 22 countries, and is dedicated to building the resilience of poor smallholder farmers to negative climate change effects.
