ACTRAV is the Bureau for Workers’ Activities within ILO. It has a mandate to strengthen representative, independent and democratic trade unions in all countries, to enable them to play their role effectively in protecting workers’ rights and interests and in providing effective services to their members at national and international levels, and to promote the ratification and implementation of ILO Conventions. ACTRAV contributes to the attainment of these objectives by:
1. Strengthening the labour movement
2. Promoting fundamental rights and principles at work
3. Collective bargaining and social dialogue
4. Combatting the exploitation of child labour
5. Improving working conditions and the environment
6. Fighting unemployment and underemployment
7. Worker education and training, especially through the ILO Training Centre in Turin
